The Villa is named after Sagat Raaso, an important historical volume that documents the life and times of the Shaktawat clan of Rajputs. As the direct descendants of Shakti Singh, the younger brother of the fabled warrior king Maharana Pratap, the Shaktawats played an important role in the history of the Mewar region and valiantly fought many battles. In addition to describing epochal events in verse, Sagat Raaso is also a seminal work that paints a true picture of the social and cultural practices of a bygone era.
For Jaishree Rathore and Amar Singh, your hosts at the Villa, this hotel is a dream nurtured over a lifetime. Born and raised in Udaipur, Jaishree has a masterful understanding of the region's major attractions with a special interest in the local cuisine. Fluent in French, English and Hindi, Amar is an expert tourism professional recognized by the Government of India. For more than two decades, Amar has travelled across India with international tourists and possibly been to every place of interest. Jaishree and Amar have painstakingly designed and built the Villa keeping in mind the multitude of traveller needs they observed and absorbed. As a member of the Shaktawat clan himself, Amar has deep-rooted interests in history and culture and is looking forward to crafting a saga in traditional hospitality.
